Greene County district court, week ending March 6

In Greene County district court Terry James Groesbeck, 45, of Eagle Grove was sentenced March 4 to 180 days in jail, with credit for time served, after he pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana, amended from possession of marijuana- second offense. The jail sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must complete all recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation at his own expense. Groesbeck was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. A charge of operating while intoxicated was dismissed. Court costs were $140. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Veronia Laine Ellsbury, 41, of Grand Junction was granted a deferred judgment after she pleaded guilty to a charge of theft- fourth degree, amended from theft- third degree. She was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She must pay a $430 civil penalty, restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees not to exceed $400, and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Persons pleaded not guilty to charges as follows: Sean Michael Allen Pollard, 37, of Paton, possession of a controlled substance- second offense, gathering where controlled substances are used, a controlled substance violation, ongoing criminal conduct, and prostitution; Cullum Joseph Corpron, 40, of Boone, ongoing criminal conduct- influence enterprise, burglary- third degree (two counts), theft- third degree (two counts), and criminal mischief- second degree (two counts); Melissa Sue Larson, 47, of Jefferson, unlawful possession of prescription drug (four counts), child endangerment (two counts), possession of controlled substance- third or subsequent offense (four counts), failure to affix tax stamp (two counts), and controlled substance violation (three counts); Christopher Robert Ciesla, 61, of Jefferson, purchase/possess depiction of minor in a sex act (five counts); and Vincent Allen Nichael Nichols, 34, of Jefferson, sex offender registry violation- second or subsequent offense, and sex offender- provide false information. Trial dates were set for April 7 for Pollard and Larson, and for May 12, for Corpron, Larson, Ciesla and Nichols.

A case was initiated against Darren Scott Lehrkamp, 37, of Scranton on charges of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness and false imprisonment.
